After thirty odd years (in the 1960s) the retreat building, badly in need of repair, was closed. In 1966 the property was sold and a fund established.
The Reverend Conover, Rector of St. Bernard’s Church, early in the 20th Century had established missions in Gladstone, the Bernardsville Hills and Millington. He had been associated with St. Mark’s Church in Basking Ridge as well as the Bernardsville Church. These five Churches are now commonly referred to as the Conover Churches.
The Rector and a lay member from each of the Conover Parishes now joined by the Rectors of the two Morristown Episcopal Churches make up the Board of Managers.
