HOW WE CAN HELP YOU
St. Martin’s House can help you fund a retreat. The St. Martin’s House Fund Board of Managers’ mission is:
To manage and administer the income of the corpus of St. Martin’s House funds in order to encourage and support church conferences, retreats and quiet days, primarily through parishes, and secondarily through retreat centers, which serve the Episcopal Dioceses of New Jersey and Newark for the purpose of deepening the knowledge of God, spiritual growth, and equipping them for what God calls them to do.
The Board of Managers meets twice each year, in May and November, to consider applications for grants, which typically range from $250 to $2,500. In general, grants are made for not more than half the cost of the retreat. Although emergency grants are made occasionally, to be assured of full consideration, you should plan ahead and submit requests prior to board meetings.
The Board of Managers often provides for some portion of the total cost of a project in the following order of priority: (1) requests from parishes in the Dioceses of New Jersey and Newark, (2) requests from retreat centers that serve those parishes, and (3) other miscellaneous requests.
Examples of past St. Martin’s House Fund grants include the following:
- $1,000 to St. Andrews Episcopal Church, New Providence, New Jersey, for a Friends of the Groom retreat weekend.
- $5,920 to Work/Life Ministry to develop an Internet-based retreat center.
- $1,000 to Northern New Jersey InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, Montclair, for college students to attend a Christian retreat.
- $500 to St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church, Asbury Park, for a vestry retreat.
- $750 to St. Bernard’s Church, Bernardsville, for three individual spiritual retreats.
The St. Martin’s House Board of Managers welcomes your application and wishes to support your retreat in every way possible.
